Decorative stained glass windows are associated with the architectural advancements of the industrial revolution. The popularity of colored glass has ebbed and flowed over the decades, although it was usually only available to the wealthy. The 19th century experienced an explosion of color due to the advancement of color lithography: magazines, wallpaper, etc. At the same time, the glass industry was born producing bottles, window glass, and hand-blown glassware. Colored glass was not just for religious expression in churches. Around the late 1800’s American and European architects often used ornamental windows in all colors and textures, clear and opaque, to infuse timeless elegance in their designs. Even British track homes had compulsory, smaller mass-produced windows. The more upscale homes had better quality, more complex windows. Today’s homeowner has come to recognize the timeless beauty of stained glass windows as light changes it from muted to brilliant as the sun moves across the sky. Market demand has caused the price of antique pieces to increase dramatically. My goal is to bring back the love of artisan glass work through original design. Much of the glass made by Tiffany is still produced today. Working together, I can create endless beauty for your home, whether in historic designs or a contemporary accent.
